Year of the Family

The Gouverment of Hungary has declared 2018 the Year of the Family. In the programme of events, special attention is being paid to family support measures and efforts to highlight, popularise and present family values.

Building blocks are used to symbolise the interlocking system of family support measures, which create the uniform image for the Year of the Family, with the logo schematically depicting the family in the centre. The collector coin issued by the MNB gives new meaning to the building blocks by presenting them in the stylised form of a heart on the obverse of the coin, symbolising the bonds that unite families. The front of this modern, playful coin also contains the obligatory elements, such as the upper legend with the denominations, „Hungary” in the lower legend, the mint date 2018 on the left side and the mint mark BP with its security features on the right side.

The reverse of the coin present the logo of the Year of the Family in the centre, with a figure schematically drawing a family. Other elements of the design form a protective building around the family as a home. The legend YEAR OF THE FAMILY 2018 beneath the „building” completes the coin. The master mark of designer Zoltán Endrődy is located to the left of the „building” motif.
